According to the Department of State (DOS) announced all available immigrant visas in the employment-based second preference (EB-2) category were issued for India. This means India EB-2 visas are unavailable for the rest of the 2026 fiscal year. The next status update for the EB-2 visas for India is on October 1, 2026.

The Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) limits the number of employment visas allowed within a fiscal year. Specifically, the annual limit of the EB-2 visa is twenty-eight percent of the worldwide employment limit. Additionally, natives of any foreign state can’t receive more than seven percent of the total available visas.

Applicants from India satisfied all the available visas in the EB-2 category. The annual limits reset with the start of the new fiscal year. The next update on EB-2 availability for Indian applicants comes on October 1, 2026. This doesn’t mean visa availability resets automatically.
