The U.S. Consulate in Brazil announced a suspension of consular services. The suspension began on October 5, 2026. Until further notice, only emergency services are available for U.S. citizens. The shutdown is mainly due to security concerns.
What Employers Should Know
Until consular services in Brazil resume:
- Visa applicants may experience appointment cancellations, processing delays and disruptions to planned travel.
