U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) released a new version of Form I-589, Application for Asylum and for Withholding of Removal, dated July 28, 2026. Applicants can still use the prior version, dated January 20, 2025, through August 27, 2026. Starting August 28, USCIS only accepts the new edition.
