U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced an update to the expiration date for Form I-693, Report of Immigration Medical Examination and Vaccination Record. Forms signed by a civil surgeon on or after November 1, 2023, no longer expire and retain evidentiary value indefinitely. Previously, Form I-693 validity period was two years from the date of signature by a civil surgeon.
Working with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and leveraging advance in public health notifications since November 1, 2023, USCIS determined a change is appropriate. The properly completed Form I-693 signed by a civil surgeon on or after November 1, 2023, provides indefinite sufficient proof an applicant is not inadmissible based on a health-related basis.
For applicants with a completed and signed medical examination form by a civil surgeon prior to November 1, 2023, the previous policy continues. The completed and signed form continues with a two-year expiration date. There is an exception for forms filed by Operation Allies Welcome parolees. Their forms have a three-year validity period.
USCIS offices retain discretion to request additional information or require a new or updated Form I-693 when there is a reason to believe an applicant’s medical condition has changed. This policy is true for all Form I-693 in all categories.
