Individuals who wish to reschedule their biometrics appointments can now use an online tool. An online account is required, whether the pending case was submitted via paper or online. Visa applicants and their accredited representatives still have the option to call the USCIS Contact Center as well.
Individuals must have a sufficient reason to reschedule their biometric appointment. Some examples are shown below.
- Illness, medical appointment, or hospitalization;
- Previously planned travel;
- Significant life events like weddings or graduations;
- Lack of transportation to the location of the appointment;
- Unavailable due to caregiver responsibilities or approved employment leave; and
- Late undelivered notice of the biometric services appointment.
Individuals can only reschedule biometrics appointments up to two times and cannot submit the request if the appointment date and time passed or is within the subsequent 12 hours. Untimely rescheduling is available only by calling the USCIS Contact Center. USCIS is updating its Policy Manual to provide an additional explanation of what is considered an untimely request to reschedule and the implications if appointments are missed.
