U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) complied with a federal court order to stop the immigration processing suspension for thirty-nine countries. The move signals an end to the indefinite processing pauses that have been in place since late 2025. The removal takes effect immediately.
Policy History
USCIS initially implemented a visa processing pauses for thirty-nine countries in December 2025. This is part of a broader effort to review immigration applicants more holistically and to better assess whether they pose any national security or public safety risk. A federal judge blocked its enforcement on June 10, 2026, and USCIS complied with the order despite objecting to it. As a result, the processing pause is now inactive pending further judicial review. Unless a higher court overturns the block, filing remains open for visa applicants from the affected countries.
