The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced that Temporary Protected Status (TPS) designations for El Salvador, Honduras, Nepal, and Nicaragua are extended for an additional 18 months. This extension was previously announced. Further details are provided.
To maintain TPS status for the 18-month extension, beneficiaries from El Salvador, Honduras, Nepal, and Nicaragua must re-register. The validity of TPS-related documentation for current beneficiaries was previously extended until June 30, 2024, to comply with court orders related to the legal challenges against the previously terminated designations. The new notices do not impact this extension. Re-registration is only open to individuals who were granted TPS under the prior designations of El Salvador, Honduras, Nepal, and Nicaragua.
It is important to note that individuals who arrived in the United States after the specified continuous residence dates for these designations are not eligible for TPS. The respective continuous residence dates are Feb. 13, 2001, for El Salvador; Dec. 30, 1998, for Honduras; June 24, 2015, for Nepal; and Dec. 30, 1998, for Nicaragua.
