USCIS confirmed the availability of documentation to confirm the immigration status of qualifying new asylees and lawful permanent residents following some legal findings. Individuals whose immigration status is granted by the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) or an immigration judge will receive documentation to confirm their status. USCIS encourages these individuals to contact the USCIS Contact Center to request the proof of status.
The option to receive this documentation via mail rather than requiring an in-person appointment may also be available. This process became available in August 2022, with the individual mailing Form I-94, Arrival/Departure Record, with appropriate stamps. Further, USCIS now creates the Legal Permanent Resident Card, or Green Card, upon notification that the status has been granted by an immigration judge or BIA.
