U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announced the current signature requirement for Form I-693, Report of Immigration Medical Examination and Vaccination Record is removed. Civil surgeon signatures are no longer required to be completed within 60 days of application for an immigration petition. This includes filing Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status. A temporary waiver has been in place since Dec 9, 2021.
USCIS expanded the validity period for civil surgeon signatures on Form I-693 to within 2 years of filing for an immigration benefit. This allows USCIS to process filings that may have otherwise been considered invalid. USCIS officers, civil surgeons, applicants, and others have noted issues with the 60-day rule. The move to a 2-year validity period is meant to improve operational efficiency and reduce the number of requests for Form I-693.
