U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced that some H-1B petitions and fiscal year H-1B cap petitions are being transferred from the Vermont Service Center to the California Service Center. This is due to delays in receipt issuance at the Vermont location. This decision was made to allow for quicker receipt notice distribution for properly filed H-1B petitions.
The California location still needs time to complete processing, data entry, and adjudication. If you believe that your submission may have been misplaced, do not resubmit. Those whose petitions are being transferred will not receive a transfer notice but will receive a receipt notice when it is received. Use your petition receipt number to investigate any inquiries about case status.
The USCIS is actively working to reduce these processing delays which are occurring across some other service centers. These delays are largely due to the COVID-19 pandemic, as the storage centers for these forms were not accessed for multiple months in 2020.
