USCIS announced the completion of a third random selection of H-1B visas for FY2022. Selections were made on November 19, 2021, from qualifying previously submitted electronic registrations. Petition filing for this selection begins November 19, 2021, and closes on February 23, 2022. Those whose registrations were selected will see the update in their USCIS account and will include a selection notice with additional details.
Previous selections were completed in July 2021 and the initial selection in March 2021. It was determined after these selections that additional registrations are needed to meet the H-1B numerical allocations for FY2022. In keeping with regulations, historical data is considered including approvals, denials, revocations, and other factors to calculate the number of registrations to accept to meet the annual limit. Only petitions accepted through this selection are eligible to file for the H-1B cap-subject petitions.
To be eligible for the selection, the H-1B cap-subject petition must have been filed at the correct service center and within the period required. Online filling is not available for H-1B petitions. The selection of a registration does not mean that the petition will be approved. Individuals selected must submit evidence and establish eligibility for petition approval, including those eligible for the advanced degree exemption. All existing statutory and regulatory requirements remain active.
