The Department of Homeland Security through U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) held a removal flight to India on October 22, 2024. Individuals in the United States who failed to attain a legal basis to remain were removed. This is the latest in a series of deportation flights from the United States to several countries.

Since June 2024, following the Securing the Border Presidential Proclamation and the related Interim Final Rule, a decrease in the number of individuals crossing the U.S. border between ports of entry has dropped by over 50%. In the last fiscal year, over 160,000 individuals have been returned to their home countries. Over 495 international removal flights to more than 145 counties have been completed.

Working with foreign governments, repatriation flights are planned. In the last year, DHS completed flights to a wide variety of countries, including Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Egypt, Senegal, and India, among others. In FY2024, more individuals were removed from the U.S. than previous years since FY2010. DHS continues to expand removal flights.

US Customs and Border Patrol states they encountered 90,415 Indians trying to enter the U.S. without valid documents between October 2023 and September 2024.
