U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) updated the intake process for Form I-360, Petition for Amerasian, Widow(er), or Special Immigrant, effective April 1, 2024. The process for related filings related to the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) for self-petitioning abused spouses, children, and parents is also updated. The Nebraska Service Center is now the centralized intake processing location for these filings.
Prior to the April 1, 2024, update, VAWA Form I-360 filings received at the Nebraska Service Center to transferred to the Vermont Service Center for intake processing. The VAWA self-petitioner received a transfer notice when this was done. However, the transfer to Vermont is no longer required. This update doesn’t affect the filing location or adjudication of submitted Form I-360 for VAWA self-petitioners. The current filing process as shown on Form I-360 should continue to be followed. Further, USCIS officers with specialized VAWA training will continue to adjudicate these cases.
