Supreme Court Justice Alito extended an order further delaying the Texas immigration law known as SB4. Shortly after the previous order expired, Justice Alito issued the order to again pause the law based on administrative basis.
The 5th Circuit is reviewing the legality of the Texas immigration law that gives state law enforcement agents the ability to stop, arrest and detain migrants who are in the U.S. without a legal basis. Texas state courts would be given the ability to return migrants found to be in the U.S. without a basis to a port of entry based. The full Supreme Court was asked by the Justice Department to put a hold on the law. The full court has yet to act on that request.
The latest delay is in effect until a further order is announced.
