Individuals who receive a Request for Evidence (RFE) for Form I-693, Report of Immigration Medical Examination and Vaccination Record, related to employment-based visa filings, are urged to respond as soon as possible. Although there is an 87-day response period for the RFE, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is asking recipients to respond as soon as possible.
RFEs are sent to applicants on an as-needed basis. USCIS employment-based visa adjustment of status RFEs, including for individuals adjusting as Special Immigrant Juveniles, have been issued. They ask for valid medical clearance using Form I-693. USCIS may be adjudicating applications within the 87-day period and therefore, if RFE information is received, a faster process may be available. In addition, as September 2023 is the end of the current fiscal year, it may be possible to access an available visa from FY2023. If the RFE response is not received prior to October 1, 2023, the fiscal year 2024 visa allocation will be required. RFEs are accepted via mail, including overnight delivery and priority services, commercial delivery, and courier. Responses should be sent to the address noted on the RFE request.
If an RFE response has been submitted, no further action is required.
